How to Make Windows Vista Faster

Early this month, Microsoft released a couple patches for Windows Vista that improve performance and usability. I have installed both and have seen some noticeable improvements including:

  1. Faster startup/reboot times
  2. Smoother UI operations (all those snazzy animation effects)
  3. Faster file copies (including how long it takes for Vista to calculate & display the amount of time a file copy will take)

NOTE: Both patches require a machine reboot so plan accordingly. Also, the download links above are for the 32-bit patches. You can find links to the x64 patches on the patch details pages. If you are unsure which you need, chances are you need the installer links I’ve included above.
