Owen Does the Monster Mash

Happy Halloween! To commemorate Owen’s first Halloween, his uncle Damien created this hilarious, Monster Mash video starring Team Smith.

Owen is in his 31st week and today is October 31st. Coincidence? Hmm…

Owen at 28 weeks

Owen is 28 weeks old today. The big development this week is he was diagnosed with the flu on Thursday afternoon. Since it is believed to be too early for seasonal flu, the probability he contracted H1N1, or swine flu, is high.

The pediatrician prescribed 1.6 mL of a Tamiflu syrup twice per day for five days. We also have him on infant Tylenol to help ease the aches and reduce his fever which got up to 103° Thursday evening. Owen appears to be doing much better. His fever subsided by Friday morning and he is not as clingy; his runny nose and watery eyes have mostly disappeared and he has a healthier appetite. TB and I also have Tamiflu prescriptions—capsules once/day for ten days—and so far neither of us are experiencing flu symptoms. You cannot tell from his pictures this week just how sick he has been. Owen is a real trooper and he has an amazing mom.
