Boondocks Theme Song
For the readers who have never watched an episode of “The Boondocks” or never will, here are the lyrics from its theme song which I wrote about previously. You can’t fully appreciate the experience without the accompanying music and Asheru’s delivery but the cadence and content of the lyrics alone are worthy of a blog post. By they way, I have no idea what the chorus means — perhaps its some form of verbal shadowboxing. Any martial artists out there to enlighten us?
Boondocks Theme Song by Asheru
I am the stone that the builder refused
I am the visual, the inspiration
That made lady sing the bluesI’m the spark that makes your idea bright
The same spark that lights the dark
So that you can know your left from your rightI am the ballot in your box, the bullet in the gun
The inner-glow that lets you know
To call your brother sunThe story that just begun
The promise of what’s to come
And I’ma remain a soldier ’til the war is won[chorus]
Judo Flip, chop chop chop
Judo Flip, chop chop chop
Judo Flip, chop chop chop
Judo Flip, chop chop chop
